Domestic violence has been on the rise since the start of confinement. A worrying finding which led the prefect of Morbihan to take an exceptional measure: the sale of take-away alcohol is prohibited, with the exception of wine, beer and cider. The decree took effect Friday evening and runs until May 11, the provisional date for deconfinement.

"It is clear that the duo alcohol-containment go bad," said the prefect Patrice Faure in a video posted on YouTube, referring to domestic violence up "30% in a few days".

"It is in the interest of families"

“The very numerous interventions by the police are almost always done against a background of alcohol. It is obviously not bearable, first for the victims but also for society, "he adds. "It is in the interest of individuals and families," he said.

The provisions of the decree apply to establishments practicing take-out sales as well as to companies practicing home delivery of alcoholic beverages. These include food businesses (grocery stores, large and medium-sized stores, etc.), sandwich shops and similar establishments, cooking terminals, fuel outlets, explains the prefecture of Morbihan.
