Broadcasting rights for sporting events are expensive. Telia, which owns TV4 and C more, pays a billion a season for broadcasting the Champions League from 2021. Nent Group recently paid billions to broadcast the Premier League several years ahead. Discovery owns the rights of Allsvenskan, which has now been postponed indefinitely. The total for Discovery to send a season of Allsvenskan is SEK 540 million.

Daniel Lagerqvist is communications director at Discovery. He hopes for the last time that the matches will be lost.

- If these matches are pushed on, then it is obvious that they affect us both in terms of planning but also financially. We believe and hope that the matches will still start during the year, says Daniel Lindqvist.

Affects other companies' operations

Jan Scherman has been the CEO of the TV4 group and believes that broadcasting rights for sports are basic income for media companies. Suspended events will therefore also have major consequences for the companies' other operations.

- If the events are canceled, we have years of processes and hires that are about a battle between the one who has sold something that does not take place and the one that gets blown on the whole right, says Jan Scherman
