The Cultural Committee in the Stockholm region decided during Wednesday's meeting that an extra 6.4 million will go to the culture.

They open up for players who have received support from the Stockholm region in 2018 or 2019 to be able to seek this crisis support as well.

- Everyone needs to do what they can to ensure that we have a rich cultural life even after this pandemic has stopped, says Cecilia Elving (L), chair of the cultural committee.

Decisions on distribution should be made during the month of May.

And when will the money be paid out?

- We realize that you need money urgently and we will do as best we can, says Cecilia Elving.

One of several crisis packages

It has been almost a month since Culture Minister Amanda Linda (MP) presented the crisis package to the culture. The cultural sector is still waiting for the 500 million.

"The most important thing is the state's responsibility in this and that the large crisis package added of 500 million comes out quickly," says Cecilia Elving.

Earlier, the City of Stockholm announced that 20 million would go to a cultural crisis fund. Cultural workers joined in a call for action, as it involved existing cultural money that would be redistributed.

The 6.4 million from the Stockholm region is a cultural aid in addition to what they have already distributed.

- We have really struggled to try to find extra money. It is an extremely serious situation for the culture in the region, says Cecilia Elving.
