The staff of Ehpad will "very quickly" receive a premium, promised this Wednesday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran. Like hospital workers, these employees are on the front lines of the Covid-19 epidemic.

This bonus "will be discussed very quickly and then awarded throughout the medico-social sector and in particular nursing homes", he declared after the Council of Ministers. The staff of accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people have made "efforts to reorganize, to adapt prevention, with measures of collective or individual isolation and keeping caregivers in sometimes difficult conditions", a- he stressed.

Tax-exempt bonuses

Consequently, "it is completely normal that they can profit from a recognition and it will be the case very soon after a negotiation", he added. The government had previously presented measures in favor of hospital workers: 50% increase in overtime worked during the epidemic and bonus of at least 500 euros, raised to 1,500 euros for those working in establishments or services receiving patients with coronavirus.

These gratuities, promised by Emmanuel Macron at the end of March, will be exempt from taxes and social security contributions, and will cost a total of 1.3 billion euros.
