The voice of the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli resounded this Easter Sunday inside the Duomo of Milan, completely empty, for a unique concert thought like "a prayer" in front of the coronavirus.

The Italian singer's concert started at 7 p.m. in the deserted cathedral and was streamed on YouTube. Bocelli sang several tunes of sacred music, notably Ave Maria by Charles Gounod or Santa Maria by Pietro Mascagni, before concluding with the Christian hymn Amazing Grace.

One of the most famous Italian artists in the world

Before the start of the concert, Bocelli had done some voice tests on the Duomo square, symbol of Milan, also entirely empty. “Pray, in the house of God and on the day of the main Christian celebration, so that we can overcome this dramatic period as soon as possible and leave with a new conscience to arrive at a new way of taking care of our neighbor and of the planet, "said the singer to explain his project.

Lombardy, of which Milan is the capital, is the region of Italy most affected by the virus, with more than 10,600 deaths out of the almost 20,000 registered in the country. Andrea Bocelli is one of the most famous Italian artists in the world.
