Sharjah Book Authority announced that the Sharjah Virtual Reading Festival will be organized over 10 days during the period from May 27 to the fifth of next June, via the Internet, to present to the audience of culture, literature and arts of all ages a group of sessions, hosting a selection of writers, writers and specialists from different parts of the world the world.

By launching the Sharjah Virtual Reading Festival, the authority seeks to assert its role in consolidating the position of culture and writers as basic pillars for building society, especially in light of the current conditions the world is witnessing due to the spread of the emerging Corona virus.

The festival, which is held in exceptional circumstances, targets all members of society, of all ages and nationalities, providing a series of online cultural and literary meetings and meetings, to be presented by a selection of Arab and foreign writers and interactive workshops.

For his part, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al-Amri, stressed that science, knowledge and culture are basic pillars from which Sharjah embarked on its cultural project, noting that the authority is continuing to translate the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Its aim is to build man’s knowledge, knowledge and creativity, and to build bridges of civilizational and human contact with different cultures around the world.

The head of the Sharjah Book Authority said, "Our responsibility in light of these circumstances is doubling, so we are required to use all means to advance thought and culture, and this is what prompted us to launch the festival, to emphasize the continuity of cultural work in various circumstances, and we continue our role because we realize that the mission of culture is effective and large."

He continued: «Today we live in a reality in which the means and technical solutions witness successive and accelerating developments, and we decided to benefit from them more, and use them in the service of culture and society. And creativity, and they exchange experiences and knowledge, and they are at the same distance ».
