As of 18:00 local time on the 9th, Italy, a total of 143,626 New Coronary Pneumonia cases were diagnosed, 18,279 deaths and 28,470 cured cases. The epidemic situation is severe. It is understood that the large comprehensive medical institution in Bari is located in southern Italy and is one of the top four general hospitals in Italy.

Zeng Yong, vice president of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, introduced the treatment situation, treatment measures and experience of epidemic prevention and treatment of patients with new coronary pneumonia in Sichuan Province. [Same period] (Zeng Yong, deputy dean of West China Hospital of Sichuan University) Although Sichuan Province is not the hardest hit by the epidemic, we should say that we have rich experience in the treatment of new coronary pneumonia. The main key points include what we talked about. First of all, we must focus on the early identification of critical illnesses, early multidisciplinary interventions, and the collection of resources, including materials and human resources.

[Commentary] During the communication session, Italian experts raised a number of questions about the treatment of critically ill patients, including invasive mechanical ventilation methods, the use of ECMO (extracorporeal membrane lung oxygenation), and plasma treatment in the recovery period of the rehabilitation patients. Chinese experts gave detailed answers . At the same time, Luo Fengming suggested that Italy should focus on strengthening early intervention to prevent patients from changing from mild to critical illness.

[Same period] (Luo Fengming, deputy director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University) The question I just asked was about the treatment of some critically ill patients. Our doctor's role is to prevent him from changing from mild to critically ill, so we also discussed just now, and we advise them (Italian experts) to intervene early to prevent these patients from becoming critically ill. This is very important.

[Commentary] Zeng Yong said that China has now achieved a staged victory in the fight against new coronary pneumonia, and the West China Hospital of Sichuan University has also gained some experience in the fight against the epidemic. He hoped that this exchange would be helpful to Italian medical experts. At the same time, he also hopes to strengthen exchanges with other countries and regions with severe epidemics.

[Same period] (Zeng Yong, deputy dean of West China Hospital of Sichuan University) We hope that the experience we have gained can help these doctors in the fight against New Coronary Pneumonia in Italy, so that they can gain something. The ultimate goal is also to enable Italy to get rid of this epidemic as soon as possible. We are willing to communicate and introduce our experience to other regions in the world where the epidemic is serious.
