It is unprecedented in France. 12,000 staff of nursing homes, children's aid and in charge of home care will be screened for coronavirus in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. For the first time since the start of the pandemic, a department will launch a massive screening operation. The Pyrenees-Atlantiques began testing, Friday, the staff of Ehpad, professionals in childcare and those in charge of home care.

In total, 12.00 people will be affected by this campaign, as explained by the president of the department Jean-Jacques Lasserre at the microphone of Europe 1. "We signed a contract with a laboratory and we launched operations at the level of the "Ehpad of our department. We agreed to work on the structures where there are identified risks and proven cases. This is how we are going to order our operations within this framework," he explains.

"We have not far from around twenty Ehpad and it is essentially in Ehpad that we will intervene with at least 600 analyzes per week", he adds, explaining relying on screening campaigns led by other countries like Germany. Experience has shown that the countries which are facing this crisis the best are the countries which have screened early and intensely.
