Carey Mulligan is delighted to have (finally) landed a role in a romantic comedy
Carey Mulligan waited a very long time before she could finally star in a romantic comedy. In an interview for Porter magazine, the actress revealed that she was delighted to have been chosen to star in Promising Young Woman , Emeral Fennell's first film, a black romantic comedy, which looks (at first glance in anyway) to Richard Curtis films ( Love at first sight in Notting Hill , Love Actually , Four Weddings and a Burial ).
"I've been asking Richard Curtis to write a role for me in one of his films for 10 years ... It's funny because the first reaction I had while reading the script was '' so romantic !! '' ”, she explained, before realizing that the film also dealt with various subjects, such as manipulation, revenge, toxic masculinity, not necessarily associated with the genre“ romcom ”. "Many things in this film are situations that any woman I know has experienced in one way or another," concludes the star.
