It has been confirmed that rescue workers of the Tokyo Fire Department have been infected with the new coronavirus, and they are to investigate if any of the 60 people contacted during emergency transport have complained of symptoms. This is the first time that the Tokyo Fire Department staff has been infected.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, the new coronavirus was confirmed to be infected by a male rescue worker in their thirties in the Morishita branch of the Fukagawa Fire Department in Koto-ku, Tokyo.

He had a fever during work on the 30th of last month and was resting at home, but on the 7th he was tested positive by PCR.

This is the first time that the Tokyo Fire Department staff has been infected.

When the Tokyo Fire Department examined the rescue workers' duties two weeks before the fever, it was found that 60 people had contacted them during emergency transport.

In the future, we plan to proceed with the consultation with the public health center if there are any people complaining of symptoms.

A total of 19 staff members, including the staff who worked together for the infection, will be on standby at home, and the Fukagawa Fire Department will take measures such as adjusting staffing so that work is not hindered.
