Sheikh Zayed Book Award announced today, Wednesday, the names of the winners of its 14th session for 2019-2020, which included six writers and writers, in addition to an independent literary magazine, in honor of their outstanding creative and intellectual production that reflects an intellectual and artistic approach that contributes to enriching the writing movement in contemporary Arab culture .

The poet Munsif Al-Wahaibi (Tunisia) won the literary branch for his book “The penultimate cup” issued by the House of Maskeliani for publication 2019, while the writer Ibtisam Barakat (Palestine) won in the “Child and Young Literature” branch for her story “The Lilac Girl” issued by the Tamer Foundation Community Education 2019, and the researcher Haider Qasim Matar (Iraq) won in the “Young Author” branch for his book “Islamic theology in the studies of German Orientalists - Youssef van S as a model”, issued by Dar Al-Rawafid Cultural Publishers and Ibn Al-Nadim for Publishing and Distribution 2018, and Muhammad also won Ait Mihoub (Tunisia) in the translation branch, on his translation of the book “The Romantic Man” by Almo Georges Gosdorf wrapped, from French into Arabic, issued by Sinatra House and the Tunisian Institute of Translation 2018.

Dutch writer Richard Van Loen won the category of the Sheikh Zayed Prize for Arabic Culture in other languages, for his book “One Thousand and One Nights and Narratives of the Twentieth Century: Attractive Readings” in English, published by Braille Publishing in 2018.

And in the category of publishing and cultural technologies, the British magazine Banipal Publishing, which contributed to presenting works from contemporary Arabic literature to English-speaking readers, won by translating selections from previously published Arabic books and collections, along with many previously unpublished poetic and narrative texts.

He also announced the cultural personality of the year for the 14th edition of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, which was won by Palestinian poet, researcher, translator and academic, Dr. Salma Al-Khadra Al-Jayyousi.

For his part, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak said: “We are proud of the success of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award year after year of success and progress, as we celebrate today the winners of the 14th session, all of whom are distinguished and well-known in the Arab and international cultural scene who have presented many creations And, they contributed to spreading and promoting awareness of Arab culture. For his part, the Secretary General of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, congratulated the winners of the various branches of the award, and congratulated the creators and researchers who reached the short list, noting that the award continued to follow an accurate methodology in the screening and arbitration processes during the months Past, in addition to the role of the scientific body examining the reports of the committees, to choose and name the best works in this session.

Ali bin Tamim added: “I extend my congratulations to Dr. Salma Al-Khadraji Al-Jayyousi, for winning the cultural personality of the year for this session, as it is a rare example in modern Arab culture, and it raises the name of Arab women to the highest, and confirms their firmness in knowledge and creativity as it highlights their scientific competence and moral commitment, and represents a victory Al-Jayyousi is in this category in line with the long-term vision of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, to enhance the position of women in Arab culture, and to build an open Arab society based on equality, dignity and creativity.

It is mentioned that the winner of the title of "Cultural Personality of the Year" will be awarded a "gold medal" bearing the logo of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award and a certificate of appreciation, in addition to a million dirhams. While the winners in the other branches receive a "gold medal" and a "certificate of appreciation", in addition to 750 thousand dirhams.
