John Prine was one of America's most respected singer songwriters. He was praised, especially for his song lyrics, by artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. Last year he received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the Grammygalan. He performed in Sweden as late as February during a celebrated European tour.
The 73-year-old, who had twice survived cancer, eventually died in the suites of covid-19, reports Reuters.
Last week, his family went out with a statement that he was taken to hospital and that the situation was critical.
“So many of you have loved John over the years. We want you to know that and get the chance to send your love to him again, ”the family wrote.
