“For us, it's a way of paying tribute to all the people mobilized during the confinement. Alexis Clerville is a guitarist and student at the Nice Regional Conservatory (CRR). Under the direction of the teacher Florian Beaudrey, the Azurean and other members of the Guitar Ensemble interpreted a singular arrangement of La Marseillaise . A service punctuated by messages of support from 120 families in Nice to workers on the front line, which will be broadcast this Tuesday, April 7 at 4 p.m. on Cultivez-vous.nice.fr (“Free Figure” section).

First unanimously

Last February, Alexis Clerville had already distinguished himself by passing the entrance exam for the National Conservatory of Music and Dance (CNSMD) in Paris, the "Clairefontaine" of musicians. "I was unanimously received first," said the person placidly. An artistic feat since only two places were available to candidates from around the world.

To win his ticket, the Niçois had to perform four pieces during the first round: "Ricercar n ° 2 of the 2nd book in Ausgewählte Lautenwerke" by Melchior Neusidler for the Renaissance style, "Sonate C. 56" by Domenico Cimarosa for the Baroque, "Estudio brillante dit Alard" by Francisco Tárrega for the romantic era and "Bagatelle n ° 1 in Five Bagatelles for guitar" by William Walton for the contemporary.

In the second round, place in "The Wood is wild" by William Byrd as a compulsory piece, before playing "Triad" by Michèle Reverdy in personal choice. “I opted for the latter because language spoke to me more. And then it is dedicated to Rafael Andia, a guitarist that I find really impressive and that I admire enormously. It is very famous in particular for contemporary works. I had the opportunity to work with him on this piece to prepare for the competition, ”reveals the musician.

From Reunion Island to Nice

Aged only 18, Alexis Clerville already has a long musical journey behind him. “I started playing the guitar at the age of 5-6. It was my father who is an amateur guitarist who introduced me to this instrument and taught me the basics ”, testifies the young talent.

In 2012, he crossed a milestone by entering the conservatory of La Réunion, the island from which he was born. Under the leadership of David Hoarau, "the teacher who made him love it", he obtained his Diploma of Musical Studies (DEM) with honors.

To accelerate his progress, the musician chooses to join the metropolis. "I have crossed the barrier represented by the ocean!" My father (security guard) and my mother (accompanying students with disabilities) were a little apprehensive about letting their child go. "

He lands in Nice where he prepares his Bac Techniques de la Musique et de la danse (TMD), leading his courses at the Lycée Massena and the Conservatoire de Nice. For a year and a half, he has perfected it there thanks to the advice of his teacher Laurent Blanquart.

Musician… and former footballer

At the start of the next school year, Alexis Clerville will join the CNSMD with the aim of obtaining the National Higher Professional Musician Diploma (DNSPM) within three years. “I will have guitar lessons with a full professor, as well as with his assistant. I will also follow music training courses (analysis, music theory, ...). And then there will be concerts. When you leave the CNSMD, you have a lot of baggage. Doors open but it will still be necessary to work to live from my passion ”, details the future Parisian.

A path that could have been totally different if he had followed his other passion. “When I was 13, I did a lot of soccer. I wanted to be a footballer as much as a musician, but I had to make a choice. "As to whether he follows the services of OGC Nice:" Yes, but it's not my favorite club. It is rather OL. "
