Tiger King , the new documentary series from Netflix, tells the story of the hidden war between the eccentric tiger breeder Joe Exotic and the animal protector Carole Baskin.

And the program does not fail to evoke the disturbing disappearance of the husband of the latter, the multi-millionaire Jack Don Lewis, never elucidated. A windfall for Chad Chronister, the Hillsborough County sheriff who took advantage of the series' immense success to request the reopening of the case.

"Since Tiger King became all the rage with Netflix and the quarantine, I told myself it was time to demand a new investigation," the police officer tweeted.

Since @netflix and # Covid19 #Quarantine has made #TigerKing all the rage, I figured it was a good time to ask for new leads. #CaroleBaskin #DonLewis #Netflix #Tiger #BigCatRescue #JoeExotic #TigerKingNetflix #HCSO pic.twitter.com/LHoJcBZVOI

When reality goes beyond fiction

Don Lewis and Carole Baskin were managing the Tampa Wildlife Sanctuary when the man disappeared in August 1997. His van was found at a nearby county airport with the keys left inside, the Tampa Bay Times recalls.

The suspicions had turned to Carole Baskin who always denied any involvement. Indeed, the couple was then on the verge of breakup. Joe Exotic is currently serving a 22-year sentence for seeking to assassinate Carole Baskin and killing five tigers.
