The death toll from coronavirus in Spain has increased by 809 people in the last 24 hours . This figure is somewhat lower than the one offered yesterday for 932 victims, which marked a new peak in this pandemic, and is the lowest in recent days. The total figure is 11,744 , as announced by the Ministry of Health.

It has also pointed out that 6,532 patients are admitted to the ICU, 116 more (1.8% higher than the previous day), and another 3,706 more people have recovered from COVID-19, with which there are already 34,219 (a 12.1% more), according to the latest data provided by the department headed by Salvador Illa.

These percentages represent a slowdown in the increases in deaths, infections and hospitalization of patients in intensive care units compared to Friday's figures.

Throughout the day, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will advance throughout this Saturday to the leaders of the political parties the decision he takes on whether or not to ask the Congress of Deputies for a new extension of the state of alarm and under what conditions . Sánchez will make the decision after meeting with the advisory board of scientists and the Coronavirus Technical Management Committee.

Once these meetings are over and the decision is made, Sánchez will contact the leaders of the political parties, since the extension needs to have the authorization of the Lower House. Within the government it is thought that the most likely option points to a new extension for at least 15 more days , that is, until April 26 .
