In the Great East, a region particularly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, caregivers can sense the approach of the epidemic peak. Health authorities estimate that it could be reached around mid-April.

REPORT

Finally a ray of hope for the caregivers in charge of patients with coronavirus. Emergency workers in the Grand Est were the first to perceive this: after weeks of fighting, Tuesday and Wednesday, they found that there was a slight drop in admissions of new patients. This weekend, resuscitators in the region are starting to see the end of the tunnel too. From a dozen resuscitation trips per day in recent times, we have grown to 30 now.

"In many hospitals in the region, we are on the razor's edge, so we do not necessarily see the end of the difficulties," says Christophe Christophe Lannelongue, the boss of the Regional Health Agency of Grand Est. "But we must admit that evolution in reality shows us that we are reaching the turning point."

1,178 deaths in the Grand Est region alone

Local health authorities are planning to end the crisis and reach an epidemic peak between April 10 and 25, according to its mathematical model. There are still ten days of considerable efforts to come.
