The Asahi Shimbun has announced that a female reporter working at the Tokyo head office has been infected with the new coronavirus.

A new coronavirus infection was confirmed by a female reporter in her 30s at the editorial office working at the Asahi Shimbun Tokyo headquarters.

According to the Asahi Shimbun, the reporter returned to work at his headquarters on the 28th of last month because he had no symptoms of smell, and returned to work at home. Since then, he has not been to work, but since he had a feeling of malaise on the 31st of last month, he received a PCR test on the 1st of this month and found that he was positive on the 4th.

The reporter was mainly at work, and the last time he met with an outsider was on February 23.

This is the first time that the Asahi Shimbun employees have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus nationwide.

None of the colleagues at the same workplace as this reporter complained of fever or other symptoms, and the Asahi Shimbun disinfected the reporter's workplace and places to stop at the company.

The Asahi Shimbun commented, "We will continue to strive to prevent infection, such as by thoroughly washing our hands in the company, refraining from eating out, and avoiding unnecessary emergency outings on holidays."
