The director general of the Regional Health Agency of Brittany had warned. "It is not impossible that we can continue medical evacuations," said Stéphane Mulliez on Wednesday. Brittany had just received two trains and 36 patients with Covid-19 in its hospitals in Rennes, Saint-Brieuc and Brest. A gesture of solidarity in favor of healthcare establishments in the Paris region, overwhelmed by the coronavirus epidemic. Sunday, two new trains will be chartered to Brittany.

Relatively spared from the virus, Brittany will therefore welcome new patients from Sunday. If the terms remain to be defined, we already know that two TGVs will leave the Austerlitz station to evacuate several dozen patients treated in Ile-de-France. One of the trains will connect Paris to Brest, the other will go to Quimper. We do not yet know the precise route of the two medical convoys, but a stop in Rennes is already scheduled. Caregivers from CHUs and in particular from Samu will leave on Saturday to care for the sick.

"There is a strong need for national solidarity"

The capacity of Breton hospitals is far from being saturated for the moment, assure the managers of the regional health agency. "There is a strong need for national solidarity to come to the aid" of the most affected regions, insisted its director on Wednesday.

Just under 1,200 cases of Covid-19 have so far been diagnosed in Brittany. A figure far from reality but which confirms that the region is for the moment one of the least affected by the epidemic. Thursday evening, 114 people were in the intensive care unit in Breton establishments. The region deplores 60 dead in its hospitals. The number of deaths in nursing homes is not known.
