Because the temptation could be great to go beyond the rules of containment, with the Easter holidays which are beginning, the city of Nice has decided to tighten the screw in the context of the fight against the coronavirus. She announced this Friday evening "the adoption of a municipal decree prohibiting all Airbnb type rental activities, except for accommodation already occupied within the confinement, and hotel accommodation for vacation purposes".

The approach is, says the town hall, supported by the hoteliers' union. Mayor Christian Estrosi also asked "the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes to consolidate this municipal decree by a prefectoral decree, taken at the scale of the whole of the metropolis".

The elected official even wants to go further and indicates to have "sensitized the state authorities so that they can ask Enedis to verify that the second homes are not occupied during the holiday period". It also calls for strengthening controls on the highway and at the exits of stations and the airport.

A municipal decree was also taken to force the closure of hypermarkets on Sundays and thus "prevent the centers from turning into places for Sunday strolls". The approach, "supported by the directors of the main hypermarkets in Nice" (Leclerc Saint-Isidore, Carrefour Lingostière, Carrefour TNL), does not concern neighborhood supermarkets, finally specifies the municipality.
