Why the same Mercedes-Benz changed more than ten sets of licenses

Xiangxiang City, Suzhou: Three suspects in "touch porcelain" scam on a highway prosecuted

In the surveillance video, a black Mercedes-Benz frequently rushed past vehicles on the highway, apparently the same car had changed more than ten license plates. Although the "evidence" of the accident was left on both cars, Mercedes-Benz owners always voluntarily demanded to be private with each other. It turned out that this was a "hitting porcelain" gang. Three members caused more than 140 traffic accidents on the expressway in just a few months, and the fraud amounted to more than 160,000 yuan. Recently, the prosecutor's office in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, has prosecuted Wu, He and Li for alleged fraud.

One day in July 2019, when Mr. Li of Suzhou drove to the Suzhou section of the Changtai Expressway, he only heard a "bang", and a black Mercedes car overtook behind him. The other driver, Mr. Wu, signaled to Mr. Li to stop and said that his car had been stung. Mr. Li parked the car, got out of the car, and found that his car did have signs of scratches, while the other's Mercedes-Benz car seemed to be in more serious condition, and the left side mirror was broken. At this time, Mr. Li said that he wanted to report to the police, but the other party offered to be private.

Subsequently, the two discussed the price, and Mr. Li transferred 4,600 yuan to Wu as compensation. At the same time, Mr. Li requested that WeChat be added to each other, so that Wu could send him a repair invoice. Unexpectedly, Mr. Wu immediately deleted Mr. Li WeChat after receiving the payment.

Afterwards, Mr. Li suddenly realized that the seemingly ordinary traffic accident he encountered was actually a carefully planned scam.

In fact, Mr. Li is not the first victim. The traffic police found this suspicious Mercedes-Benz car on duty. The vehicle frequently changes license plates and frequently encounters accidents with other vehicles.

On October 29, 2019, the police arrested the suspects Wu, He, and Li in Shijie Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. After the case arrived, the three of them quickly explained their criminal facts, and a group of "professionals who touched porcelain" who acted "burst" were bottomed out.

It turned out that one year ago, Wu had been an auxiliary police officer. In his work, he knew the trick of "hitting porcelain" fraud, so he quit his job and embarked on this "avenue of wealth" that he thought was a "money".

In April 2019, he spent 110,000 yuan to buy a second-hand Mercedes-Benz car, and at the same time he and Li Mou started their "touch porcelain" road. In order not to be discovered by the traffic police, they bought a dozen fake license plates online. During the crime, they changed the license plate on the road almost every once in a while to avoid tracking.

At the beginning of October 2019, Wu and three others were searching for targets on a highway centered on Suzhou. Usually, they are responsible for driving, one co-pilot, and one rear. During driving, the person in the back row waited for the opportunity to use the prepared slingshot filled with mud beads to aim at the target car to launch the marbles. After a “bang” sound was issued, the other person was instructed to stop. Then, while the other party wasn't paying attention, use the sandpaper to secretly rub the other side's car body to make scratches, as the "evidence" of the occurrence of rampant. Of course, they would disguise their Mercedes-Benz as a "victim" in advance, such as breaking the mirror. After the other party believed that it was true, the "Porcelain Party" took the initiative to ask for privacy and refused to report to the police. But compensation is often expensive and costs thousands of dollars.

The Xiangcheng District Procuratorate found out that from July to October 2019, Wu Mou and He Mou and Li Mou carried out fraud on a number of highways centered on Suzhou City in Jiangsu Province and Dongguan City in Guangdong Province. For the other times, the amount involved was more than 160,000 yuan.

Prosecutor Wu Yue introduced: The reason why such "touch the porcelain" scams often succeeds. First, the suspect chooses the highway and makes full use of the driver ’s fear of trouble and hurries. Most drivers will take the initiative and do nothing to the police. Second, the criminal suspect has a clear goal in the crime, and he selects a luxury car driven by a single person.

Prosecutors reminded that "hitting porcelain" on the highway seriously disrupted the traffic order and was suspected of fraud. Gangs in China often choose to commit crimes when drivers break the rules. The majority of car owners should strictly abide by the traffic rules while driving. Once a traffic accident occurs, they should report to the police in accordance with the law and not give criminals an opportunity.
