After twenty patients from the Grand Est last week, the Pays-de-la-Loire region is preparing to welcome 55 new patients from various hospitals in Ile-de-France, who have reached saturation point. The first arrived Wednesday evening, and the transfer continued on Thursday, says the Regional Health Agency. “There are 30 of them who arrived today. They will be dispatched to the various establishments in the region ”. In detail, 14 patients will join the intensive care unit of the Nantes University Hospital. A group of 18 patients is expected in Angers. The hospitals of Saint-Nazaire, Cholet, Laval, Le Mans and La Roche-sur-Yon are also mobilized.

These patients are being transported by plane or helicopter. These evacuations, carried out with the help of the Samu, of the firemen, the army and the gendarmerie, give rise to "permanent rotations", explains the ARS, which evokes a medical operation of "unprecedented" scale. A total of 150 patients will be evacuated to establishments in other regions, the Pays-de-la-Loire therefore, but also the Center-Val de Loire and Normandy.

No wave yet

This Thursday evening, the ARS indicated that the resuscitation services in Pays-de-la-Loire were still able to receive these other patients, outside the region. According to the latest assessment, the number of people in intensive care was 141, with a capacity of about 500 places. A total of 82 people have died from Covid-19 in hospital since the start of the epidemic.

“The increase is fairly stable. Either the wave has not yet arrived, or it is the first effects of containment, says the ARS. In all cases, we must continue to confine ourselves, and to prepare. "
