  • The CHU de Montpellier health staff receive very important signs of support every day.
  • Often requested, the CHU has so far been unable to receive in-kind donations for its healthcare staff. This is now possible thanks to the Guilhem fund, its tax-exempt donation fund created three years ago.
  • The Guilhem fund is a private law, non-profit structure, independent of the CHU but created by the CHU to receive donations, legacies and donations of all kinds.

Faced with the multiplication of donation proposals for the support of its nursing staff, the Montpellier University Hospital decided to open a kitty. “I would first like to pay tribute to all those who participate in this outpouring of generosity. All the individual donors who are showing up and have been kind enough to give us their material support in health products ”, says Thomas Le Ludec, director of the establishment.

And then there are “all the little gestures. In this period of health crisis linked to the coronavirus pandemic, the moral support of the population is important. Our teams first experience it as recognition, ”says Thomas Le Ludec. "All our nurses have received bouquets of flowers, we are regularly offered pizzas, pastries, meals prepared every day by a great chef," said Professor Kada Klouche, head of the department of intensive medicine and resuscitation.

Almost 10,000 euros donated this Thursday

For those who wish to go further, the CHU has decided to open the Guilhem fund to its staff. "What will be donated for the Covid-19 will go towards patient care and help for carers", continues Thomas Le Ludec. This Thursday morning, 166 people have already paid 9,231 euros. These donations are “tax exempt” up to 66%.

Created three years ago, the Guilhem fund contributes to the actions of the Montpellier University Hospital in terms of innovation and public health. "It is a structure under private law, not for profit, independent of the CHU but created by the CHU to receive donations, legacies and donations of all kinds," explains the health establishment. It therefore constitutes a guarantee of proper use of the funds paid, in complete financial transparency. "
