The red carpet of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival this Friday before the opening ceremony in 2018 - A. Demoulin / 20 Minutes

The Principality of Monaco is no exception to the epidemic. And its events are also canceled on the chain. After the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters of tennis, which was scheduled for this month, it is the celebration of the small screen that is also paying the price for the new coronavirus.

"Following the latest recommendations from the Monegasque authorities, the 60th edition of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival will not take place in June 2020," the organizers announced on Thursday. The appointment is rescheduled from June 18 to 22, 2021.

55 people affected in the principality

“We are confronted with a new situation which unfortunately deprives us, to this day and for an indefinite period, of our freedom. We must all take our responsibilities to protect what is most precious: our health, that of our loved ones and our festival-goers, ”explains Laurent Puons, the associate vice-president of the festival.

On Wednesday, health authorities in the Principality announced three new confirmed cases of Covid-19, for a total of 55 people affected, including twelve hospitalized and one death. Prince Albert II of Monaco, who himself contracted the coronavirus, has just been declared cured.
