Skansen, the Nordic Museum and other government-funded cultural institutions have appealed for additional funding to cope with the crisis situation they have been in because of the corona virus. The government is now responding, for some institutions, to making payments on the already clubbed state aid.

- We will make the decision on Thursday. We have a number of scenes, museums and other institutions in Sweden that receive government support. What we do is make early payments that are normally distributed during the year, says Minister of Culture and Sports Amanda Lind.

It is therefore not an extra money, but rather that money that would have been paid out in the autumn instead of being paid out now.

Have continuous contact with the players

- Skansen, Dramaten, the Opera, the Nordic Museum and other institutions have been hit hard by reduced entrance and ticket revenues, some have acute liquidity shortages. This will be a relief in an emergency situation.

The issue of extra funding for state-funded cultural activities remains. But Lind points out that there is an ongoing dialogue.

- We have continuous contact with the various players. I will meet representatives of all government-funded institutions in a few weeks, then we will analyze the situation carefully and also the need for interventions, she says.

TT: When will the aid be paid out?

- We will decide on this at Thursday's government meeting.
