The organizers of the famous Beirut Festival of Opera in Germany announced the cancellation of the event, which was scheduled to start on July 25, due to the spread of the new Corona virus.

"We regret having to cancel the 2020 session due to the epidemic," the organizers said in a statement posted on the festival's website. The measures currently in place make it very difficult to organize the exercises that were supposed to start in the coming days.

The festival is centered on the work of Wagner. This year's session included the presentation of Richard Wagner's "Nipplingen Ring". The cards sold for 2020 will remain valid for next year's session, organizers confirmed.

The epidemic caused the cancellation or postponement of many cultural gatherings. The music composer and orchestra leader, Richard Wagner, founded the Beirut Festival in 1879 and is one of the major opera festivals in the world.
