A minor unfavorably known to the justice system was placed in police custody Tuesday at the police station of Nîmes and referred to the parquet floor this Wednesday.

On four occasions in recent days, police officers have verbalized him for non-compliance with the confinement put in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus. During the various controls, he would never have been able to present a waiver justifying his presence on the streets of the prefecture of Gard.

A first in the Gard

As the law allows, the police then decided to place him in police custody. In addition to a heavy fine of 3,750 euros, he faces six months' imprisonment. He is the first person placed in police custody for this type of offense in the Gard since the implementation of containment measures.
