A 101-year-old Dutch woman has recovered from an emerging coronavirus, an event which the hospital described as a "spark of hope". The woman, whose name was not revealed, was transferred to a hospital near Rotterdam a week and a half ago, suffering from breathing difficulties, and tests confirmed her infection with the Corona virus.

The old woman was placed in quarantine until she recovered to the point where she could be discharged from hospital.

The hospital said on its website that the centenary old woman, who lives alone, will now stay in a nursing home before returning to her home.

Chest pathologist, Sunil Ramlal, pointed out, "She is a solid lady. “It’s great to see her stick to medical directions like sneeze at her elbow and even tell me to keep an adequate distance.”
