The program "Allô Docteurs", broadcast on France 5 and presented by the doctors Marina Carrère d'Encausse and Michel Cymes, is now present on the social network Snapchat. An evolution brought about by a demand on the part of young people, who feel more and more concerned by the coronavirus pandemic.

While a 16-year-old girl died Thursday after having contracted the coronavirus, the program Allô Docteurs engage in prevention against Covid-19 with the youngest. This evolution takes shape in particular with the arrival of presenters Michel Cymes and Marina Carrère d'Encausse on the Snapchat application.

Three times a week, the two doctors will answer questions from users of this messaging platform, which is widely used by the youngest. A necessity for Olivier Levard, producer of the show. "Hello Doctors already exists on television and on the web, but on Snapchat we may be reaching another population," he explains. "For many people, the telephone is the primary tool and media of information, so we are going to reach people who do not necessarily watch the 8 o'clock newspaper."

The choice of Snapchat is all the more strategic as the application represents according to him "a mass audience". "With this program, we will reach more than one hundred thousand users every day and above all young users, 15 to 25 years old," says Olivier Levard. In France, more than 60% of 13-24 year olds say they use Snapchat at least once a week.

Young people affected by the death of a teenager

However, since Julie's death following the Covid-19, a request for information is perceived on the side of young people. "The death of this 16-year-old teenager changes the game because all of a sudden, they too feel concerned and threatened," observed host and doctor Marina Carrère d'Encausse at the microphone of Europe 1.

Very present on social networks (where a lot of fake news circulates), young people are also, according to her, "in demand for medical verification" of information. "They really want to try to understand when they will be able to break out of this confinement and whether it is really essential to respect it properly," adds Marina Carrère d'Encausse.

The host is not worried about the future of the program on Snapchat. "Young people know that" The Health Magazine "(another program it presents on France 5) is a medical reference", specifies Marina Carrère d'Encausse.
