  • DESPERATE MOTHER Coronavirus: will Teleco validate us by teleworking at home with children?

"It is time for parents and children to make the most of their time together and learn from each other. Coexistence is already there, we just have to know how to take advantage of our resources and achieve a comfortable environment for everyone," says Abel. Domínguez, health psychologist and director of Domínguez Psicólogos.

In an initiative promoted by Mattel, a leading international company in children's entertainment, Domínguez has drawn up a decalogue of tips to try to help us coordinate teleworking with children's entertainment and learning from home, a complicated challenge but one that can become " an unbeatable experience between parents and children ". Here are his tips:

1. Keep calm and pass it on . Adults are the mirror that reflects children. If the coexistence is focused from the tranquility, they will also live it and transmit it like this.

2. Assume coexistence as soon as possible and be proactive . Thus these circumstances will begin to play in favor of the parents, seeing them as an opportunity and taking control.

3. Take advantage to strengthen ties and get to know each other better. If the situation has a positive approach, you will live better and it will be an enriching experience for everyone.

4. Encourage creativity, not only in children and adolescents, but also in adults, through activities. There is time to spend with others and you should take advantage.

5. Share household chores and responsibilities. Adjusting each task to each age and ability through a calendar. Thus, everyone feels involved.

6. Limit passive entertainment activities (TV, Internet, video games) and, as much as possible, enjoy them together in moments of free time shared.

7. Recover classic forms of fun. Board games are a way of fostering relationships between family members, as well as entertaining children.

8. Encourage dialogue between family members. It is key to listen and understand how you can improve this coexistence. It is a matter of learning and gradually molding and changing until you get the perfect environment.

9. Make those around us feel special. They are the most important people in our lives and it is time to let you know through small details.

10. Enjoy this family time because it is a real gift. It is worth dedicating these hours to them, which is normally difficult to achieve because they are not together at home. Now this time exists and families should make the most of it.

Games that help them learn

Mathematics, Language, motor skills ... For a child there can be no better plan than learning by playing. And for a father and a mother, share quality time with their children. Here are some proposals to achieve it:

The popular UNO game can be a perfect opportunity to brush up on numbers, additions and multiplications, or even colors (for younger children), with or without the help of their parents. Challenges can be proposed to gain agility and speed: How much do these cards add or multiply?

These same resources can be applied to reviewing letters, word formation or vocabulary of specific subjects with Scrabble, or to creativity and psychomotricity with Pictionary.

For the little ones, any game is a new discovery. It is the perfect time to continue working together on your psychomotor skills, learning to stack and build with Mega Bloks. They can even destroy, which is also a lot of fun.

Playing with dolls stimulates your imagination, self-expression, and creativity. Where an adult sees a house or a toy car, a child can tell wonderful stories.

Building car tracks, racing, and crashing is fun for kids, but also for adults. With cars, tracks, and stunts kids can experiment, develop problem-solving skills, and work on their creativity and imagination. Hot Wheels also awakens and encourages the spirit of challenge in children to reach their full potential.
