The employees learned about it Thursday, by an email from their management. Nantes Atlantique Airport will be completely closed from Monday March 30 due to the coronavirus epidemic. The information was confirmed at 20 minutes this Friday by Vinci, which operates the Nantes airport. "Following the latest information received from the companies, commercial flights will be suspended from Monday, March 30 and the terminal will be temporarily closed to the public," said the management of the equipment. The airport will continue to accommodate cargo flights, government flights, medical evacuations and even organ transport. Orly and Nice had already decided to put their commercial flights to sleep.

Since the containment announcements, the activity of the Nantes platform had considerably reduced. Tuesday, nine flights out of ten were canceled and the halls were almost deserted. At this weekend, Air France continued to provide its daily connection with Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle but the rest of the flights were canceled.

When President Emmanuel Macron announced the containment measures, Vinci had set up a business continuity plan in order to "fulfill his missions of airport public service". Many employees who can work from home, had left their offices to practice teleworking. Barrier measures had been put in place within the terminal to limit the spread of Covid-19. "Upon reactivation of commercial flights, the terminal will be able to be reopened to the reception of the public," promises Vinci.
