Several unions have asked for better protections this Friday, after the deaths of the coronavirus of an employee of Carrefour in Saint-Denis and of an interim of Manpower on mission at Fedex in Roissy, and the confirmed case of an employee of Amazon in Saran near Orleans.

"It is an absolute drama, our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. The management of the hypermarket has set up a psychological unit for its colleagues, "said Carrefour, adding that it is a 52-year-old employee.

The CGT wants to exercise the right of withdrawal

The CGT, which announced the death of this union delegate, lists "today (in its sectors) more than 550 suspected cases and 181 proven cases, including several serious" and claims that employees be equipped with masks. It also asks the government to impose on large retailers "to only open the shelves of essential products, to limit the opening hours and to close on Sundays".

The CGT Interim meanwhile announced the death of a temporary worker on mission at the Fedex hub in Roissy, Tuesday, and called for "the cessation of all missions not meeting the essential needs of the population", the right of withdrawal and access to partial activity measures, "whatever the duration of their assignment contract, as long as the working conditions present serious dangers of contamination".

Several Amazon employees in quarantine

At Amazon, the first union of the group in France, SUD, held a press conference after the announcement Tuesday of a case confirmed by a test of Covid-19 at the warehouse in Saran, near Orleans.

According to group management, another case has been confirmed in Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne). These employees are "recovering" and all employees in "close" contact with them have been quarantined for 14 days with salary maintenance. According to Laurent Degousée, delegate of SUD Commerce et Services, 39 people from the Saran employee's team tested positive for Covid-19 have been placed in confinement since Tuesday but "at least 90 people have been in contact" with him.

Closure of warehouses for non-priority products

"Amazon has implemented security measures, but distance rules are simply impossible to implement and there are no masks," he said. The company says it applies "all recommendations" and has doubled the distance between stations to 2 meters. SUD reserves the right to "seize the judicial judge to order the closing of warehouses under penalty, if the government does not move".

Like the CGT and the CFDT, SUD is calling for the closure of the group's French warehouses, which according to the unions carry very few priority products (such as hygiene products) and continue to deal with leisure items (games, comics , DVD, etc.), despite the group's announcement on March 21 that it will no longer take orders for "lower priority" products in France and Italy.
