The number of tests conducted in France against the coronavirus is controversial. Germany announced Thursday to perform 500,000 tests per week, a number significantly higher than that of France. Jean-François Delfraissy, the president of the scientific council in charge of advising the government, assured Thursday evening on Europe 1 that their number should increase appreciably next week, to reach "40,000 per day".
"There are two types of tests: first the tests which make it possible to make the diagnosis of the infection, which number 8,000 to 9,000 per day currently. The president of the scientific council also explained that another type of test will be carried out later on a large part of the population, in order to envisage the exit from containment.
"Another type of test will be done later, by diagnosing antibodies. This will define French people who are HIV-positive, who have been infected, and those who have been HIV-negative. There, it will be 200,000 to 300,000 tests per day. approach there will help us to have an exit strategy, "he said.
