“Wash your hands very regularly; cough or sneeze into your elbow or into a handkerchief; use and dispose of a disposable tissue; greet without shaking hands and avoid kissing. Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic, and like a mantra, these four recommendations from Public Health France to prevent the spread of the virus have been relayed in the media and on social networks, posted on large posters in the street or on the baker's storefront.

But, as asked by a 20-minute reader, what to do when you or someone you know has the first symptoms of Covid-19 and you are all already confined under the same roof?

Barrier gestures, essential

In the event that the disease does not progress unfavorably (i.e. breathing difficulties which have appeared and which require calling 15 or 114 for deaf or hard of hearing people), it is advisable to continue to adopt the essential barrier gestures, but also new ones. All are listed on the website of your regional health agency, but also on that of the Ministries of the Interior and of Health.

  • Avoid contact with loved ones, if possible by staying in a separate room with the door closed. Do not share your bed and meals either. If complete isolation is not possible, always keep more than a meter from healthy people and limit verbal exchanges to fifteen minutes.
  • Do not share your everyday objects: towels, cutlery, sheets, telephone, computer ...
  • Cough in his elbow, use disposable tissues. Throw away your waste (masks, handkerchiefs, papers, etc.) in a plastic bag, close it and place it in the household waste bin.
  • Clean the bathroom and toilet after each pass, with bleach or disinfectants. And wash separately, at 60 ° C minimum for at least thirty minutes, all of his things, without having shaken them before placing them in the washing machine, for example. For dishes: use the same, clean and dry separately.
  • Continue to clean and disinfect all affected surfaces (door handles, furniture, floors, etc.) with a cleaning product, then with bleach.
  • Aerate the rooms you occupy very regularly, at least ten minutes a day.
  • Rub hands with hydroalcoholic gel or soap, again very regularly, before drying them carefully.
