A German virologist says that about 500,000 analyzes are being conducted to detect infection of the new Corona virus in Germany every week during the current period.
"The reason why we currently have in Germany a very small number of deaths compared to the numbers of injured people can be explained sufficiently that we are doing a laboratory diagnosis in Germany very much," said the scientist at his German hospital, Christian Dorsten, in Berlin on Thursday.
He added that, according to the latest assessments, it can be assumed that about half a million PCR tests are conducted in Germany every week. During these tests, a swab from the nose or throat is taken and tested in the laboratory.
In a related context, Andreas Jassen, president of the Federal Association of Medical Insurance Doctors in Germany, said today that he believes that 410 thousand analyzes have been carried out in Germany since the ninth of March. As for the research, given the treatment of "Covid 19" patients, he pointed out that it is currently related to using existing drugs.
According to the evaluation of the German virologist, there are two articles, at least "highly promising," and he directly mentioned the name of the influenza drug "favipirafi" which was adopted in some Asian countries. He explained that it is possible to see "preliminary evidence of an effect" with this article, but this effect is limited, and more studies are still needed in order to reach something concrete about it.
It is noteworthy that the incidence of corona cases is approximately 38 thousand cases, and deaths exceed 215, which is a small number compared to other countries in Europe, especially Italy and Spain.
