A resident of Chaniers, near Saintes (Charente), killed his partner, this Monday around 8 pm, before turning the weapon against him. According to France 3 , the facts occurred before the eyes of the couple's two children, two sisters aged 10 and 13.

According to the first elements of the investigation, this femicide occurs while the couple was in the process of separation. A violent argument broke out in the presence of the children and the man stabbed his partner several times and fired two shots in his direction. He would then have turned the weapon against him. According to Sud Ouest , the two sisters took refuge with the neighbors, who warned the gendarmes.

According to the prosecutor of the Republic of Saintes, cited by France 3, no procedure or handrail had been filed by the mother. The two girls were admitted to the pediatric department of Saintes hospital, before being placed at their request with an aunt. The investigation was entrusted to the Research Brigade of the Gendarmerie de Saintes.
