Invited on Europe 1, Florence Arnaiz-Maumé, president of the national union of private retirement homes (Synerpa), returns Tuesday on the necessary reinforcement of the barrier measures in Ehpad, in particular the installation of airlocks of decontamination for all that enters in these establishments.

After the death on Monday of twenty residents of a nursing home in Cornimont, possibly linked to the coronavirus, measures are intensifying within this establishment in the Vosges: strengthening of hygiene measures and confinement of all residents. As for patients at risk, they are now treated by hospitals in neighboring cities. Throughout France, the Ehpad are strengthening their systems to protect these particularly vulnerable populations in the face of the epidemic, as explained by Florence Arnaiz-Maumé, president of the national union of private retirement homes (Synerpa).

Guest of Europe 1 Tuesday, she particularly encourages "the vast majority of Ehpad still spared to, as of this evening, reinforce more than ever the barrier measures by favoring more and more room confinement, room service, and organize the schedules so that it is the personnel who move ", she details, specifying that it can also be recommended to organize a containment by stage, as well as around the protected units.

Install decontamination airlocks

Another essential measure for the president of Synerpa: the establishment of a decontamination protocol for everything that enters the Ehpad, such as deliveries, but also the clothing of staff. Indeed, the latter do not reside within establishments. Their outfit was in contact with the outside. It is therefore necessary to set up "airlocks", she says, while specifying that these devices are still to be created.

"In general, we have rooms for the changing rooms of the staff but which are not outside the establishment. There, it is necessary to do with the means of the current edge", adds that which ensures to have implemented the barrier measures from the 24 February. "We have to think carefully about everything that enters the nursing home to track down harmful effects. Now we know that there are going to be infected establishments. So there are other measures which are also under way to "organization of care", she admits before concluding: "These are recommendations that we make as we discover the impact of the virus and that we must implement."
