A film made "in the long run", said Alessandra Sublet, her co-producer, guest of Philippe Vandel on Tuesday. The teams followed the sportsman for months between France and the United States, collected rare archive images, and discussed with his parents, his wife, his friends.

His wife, Axelle, was initially reluctant: "modest", uncomfortable in front of the cameras, she also dreaded showing "the luxury in which they live". "The fact that they finally accepted allowed us above all to show his deep values, his hard work," says Alessandra Sublet. The couple, "more and more comfortable" as and when filming, finally left him "carte blanche". No scene was cut during the editing.

At the origin of the project, there are in particular their common Lyon origins. "I didn't really know him before making the documentary. I sometimes met him, and each time I told him about this project," recounts Alessandra Sublet. The basketball player finally accepted last year, when he announced his retirement from the NBA. "He is the only French player to have achieved this excellence. It did not come to him like that, he started from nothing. He rose to the top through hard work and envy", he greeted. she.

Alessandra Sublet's teams also received the latest interview from NBA icon Kobe Bryant who died a few weeks ago. "These personalities are not easy to approach. President of ASVEL, a Lyon basketball club, Tony Parker recently founded several academies for young players, and funded several gymnasiums in France. Admiring the player and his "transmission values", Alessandra Sublet sees in him "an extra example for the young and the not so young".
