What does “Being Human” mean when standing walking or the use of tools, criteria long reserved for humanity, are now, as we know, shared by other animals.

How to remake the archeology of our origins on the whole African continent, where archaeologists and paleontologists unceasingly exhume new fossils, and are able to re-examine them in the light of paleogenetics thus renewing the essential, existential questions, which have always inhabited us : Where do we come from ? Who are we ? And where are we going?

So many questions reopened in the international and interdisciplinary conference "Being human?" Archeology of origins ”organized by our guests Francis Duranthon and Laurent Bruxelles, at the Muséum d'Histoire naturelle in Toulouse, in November 2018. Both are returning from an exploration in Namibia and with them, let's ask ourselves about this question: How and since when did we become human

With :

- Francis Duranthon, paleontologist, director of the Museum of Natural History of Toulouse
- Laurent Bruxelles, INRAP geo-archaeologist. CNRS 2015 bronze medal. He notably worked on dating the fossil hominid Little Foot in South Africa.
