The cartoonist Albert Uderzo , creator with René Goscinny of the stories of Asterix the Gallic , has died this Tuesday at the age of 92, his family reported.

"Albert Uderzo died in his sleep at his home in Neuilly (outside Paris) from a heart attack , unrelated to the coronavirus . He had been very tired for several weeks," his son-in-law Bernard de Choisy told AFP.

In 2011 the series of The Adventures of Asterix the Gallic became part of the Guinness Book of Records as the most translated comic in the world, with 111 languages ​​and dialects. In Spanish it has sold around 24.5 million copies.

Asterix is one of the best-known comic book characters of all time. In France, his home country, the little Gallic is little less than a national icon. It is also an impressive business, of course, with its own theme park, several real-life and animated films, merchandising, etc.
