The confinement due to the coronavirus is straining people's spirits, including against healthcare professionals. Pharmacists, faced with a high demand for protective masks and hydroalcoholic gel, have thus observed an increase in attacks. "We have an alert system where pharmacists can report attacks online. Carine Wolf-Thal explained this increase in attacks by the high demand for masks and hydroalcoholic gel, which is out of stock in many pharmacies. "There is aggressiveness to have masks or hydroalcoholic gel. The population does not understand [why it] does not have access to these protective devices. There is a lot of anxiety behind", notes the president of the College of Pharmacists.
"People don't understand how other people have masks. There is a black market and a lot of robbery in hospitals. But some people already had masks at home," she continues, adding that "containment doesn’t don't help. " "Being confined to small apartments is very stressful for people, who put stress on us."

"We hope things will settle down"
Faced with this increase in attacks, Carine Wolf-Thal encourages her colleagues "to protect and preserve themselves". "We have to put the teams to rest," she recommends.
"There is also the fear of being contaminated yourself. Like all professions, we are in shortage of masks and gloves. With confinement, activity will decrease. Some pharmacists are even starting to lay off staff technical, so we hope things will subside. But there is great pressure and demand from the population to have access to pharmacists. "
