Solidarity gestures multiply everywhere during confinement. One of these initiatives has been widely reported on social media since Sunday. It comes from Romain Banliat, a young horticulturalist living in Plerguer near Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine). Like his colleagues, his activity has been stopped for ten days with the closure of shops and his twelve employees find themselves on partial unemployment. "Time has stopped for us, but not for plants", he confides to 20 Minutes .

In its greenhouses, flowering has indeed started with the return of the first rays of sun. But for lack of being able to sell them to his usual customers, Romain has therefore found himself in recent days with a large stock of flowers on his arms.

"It gives hope," says the young man

Rather than throwing them in the trash, he therefore decided on Sunday to go and bloom the graves in the cemetery of his commune. "There were between 400 and 500 pots, I think I managed to go around the cemetery," said the young man. His initiative posted on his Facebook page quickly met with great success on the Internet with already more than 188,000 likes and more than 54,000 comments.

"It's quite incredible," admits the young man. Of course I did not do that for the buzz but it still gives pleasure and gives hope ”. Among all the messages received, some have touched him deeply. "A lady thanked me for flowering her son's grave," says the horticulturalist, who now hopes that his activity will soon be able to resume. "It really falls at the worst of times because I make 70% of my turnover between March and May, it's a big shortfall."
