“Invent new forms of solidarity. The government announced on Monday the launch of a "civic reserve" allowing citizens to mobilize in the context of the coronavirus crisis. This device encourages the French to "give their time so that the poorest and most vulnerable are not the first victims of this crisis," the government said in a statement.

"So that everyone can take their share of this general mobilization" the system relies on an online platform, jeveuxaider.gouv.fr.

Several "vital missions"

“With the health crisis and confinement, associations, which normally rely on a volunteer resource that is often very old, are struggling to continue their activity […]. Several distribution points for the most deprived have already had to close their doors in recent days, due to a lack of volunteers, "said the executive. "It is to guarantee the continuity of vital activities for the most precarious that this platform was built, in connection with the largest associative networks".

These "vital missions" concern emergency food aid, "exceptional childcare", "connection with isolated fragile people" and "local solidarity".

"The exceptional nature of the health crisis in our country calls for an exceptional commitment from each of us," says the government, which notes that the missions "will be carried out in full compliance with health security rules".
