"We must focus the available capacity on the highest priority items and, as of today, temporarily stop taking orders for certain lower priority products on Amazon.fr and Amazon.it," said the management of the giant American in a statement. This measure, which concerns France and Italy, is taken in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic.

"The employees of our distribution centers will focus on receiving and shipping the products that customers need most today," continues the online sales specialist. It is thus hygiene or basic products for the home which will have priority, as it is already the case in the United States.

Third party sellers are not affected

This only applies to new orders: those that have already been placed will be honored. This new policy applies to products ordered directly from Amazon or from third-party sellers who instruct Amazon to store and ship the goods.

Other third-party sellers who do not go through Amazon logistics are not affected. "Customers can continue to order many of these products from third-party sellers who can ship them directly," said the group.
