In response to a question: Is the dead person with the Corona virus considered a martyr? The Al-Azhar International Monitoring and Electronic Fatwa Center said that whoever dies with the Corona virus is a martyr, he has the reward of the martyrs of the Hereafter, and the provisions of this world that are applied to the dead of Muslims are applied to them, such as washing, shrouding and funeral prayer; For the saying of our master, the Messenger of God, peace be upon him: “The martyrs are five: the stabbed, the delayed, the drowned, the owner of the demolition, and the martyr in the way of God.”

The center in its response to the question on its Facebook page also today, Monday, quoted the hadith of the Prophet: “He who was killed in the path of God is a martyr, and he who dies in the path of God is a martyr, and he who dies in the plague is a martyr, and he who died in the stomach” A novel «The drowning is a martyr», considering that who died with the Corona virus is within the rule of those who died from the plague, and Ibn Manzur defined in (the tongue of the Arabs) the plague as: “the general disease and the epidemic that spoils the air and spoils the mixture and the bodies.”

The center separated the martyrs into two types: the martyr of the world and the Hereafter, and the martyr of the Hereafter. The martyr of this world and the hereafter is the one who died fighting the enemies of religion and the homeland, and the ruling of this martyr is that he is not washed and not prayed, but he is buried in his condition. The second type, which is the martyr of the Hereafter, is the one who died of a specific cause from the set of reasons mentioned in the hadith, including death due to an epidemic such as the new Corona virus (Covid 19); but it is washed, shrouded, and the funeral prayer is prayed for.

At the end of his response to the question, Al-Azhar Global Center for Monitoring and Electronic Fatwa called for distracting us and the bad worlds .. Oh God, amen.
