Almost 70% of patients hospitalized in Spain in a Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit are 60 years of age or older, according to the latest updated data from the Center for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies.

From the data, which take as a reference a group of 18,959 patients who have reported their age - out of a total of 28,752 infected with coronavirus - it appears that the provisional data on the lethality of the disease in Spain is 6%, compared to 9% from Italy, 6% from Germany and 0.3% from France.

As in that described in other countries, the case fatality rate is higher in people over 70 years of age and especially in those over 80 years of age, a group in which it rises to 17.9%.
