First-line firefighters in Wuhan from Vulcan Mountain to the community to prevent and control the epidemic

The clothes were taken off layer by layer, first the outermost isolation gown, and then the protective clothing. Li Changchun found that the innermost surgical gown had been wet with sweat and stuck to the skin.

Li Changchun is assistant to the director of the fire rescue station of Wuhan Vulcan Mountain Hospital. After working in the contaminated area of the hospital for 5 hours, he has been soaked all over. "The nose and ears are hurt by the mask, and they are not comfortable anywhere. But the medical staff is 6 hours after entering, not eating or drinking, not being able to go. Toilet, you can imagine how it was done. "

At the end of January, Li Changchun led 7 firefighters to participate in the construction of the Vulcan Mountain Hospital, set up a fire station, and has been stationed to this day. The above scene took place on March 11th and 12th. They recalibrated the 1,167 smoke detectors distributed throughout the hospital.

In Wuhan, since the outbreak, hundreds of firefighters, like Li Changchun, have haunted major hospitals, rehabilitation stations, communities, and alleys. In addition to fire prevention and fire fighting, they also engage in patient transfer, material handling, and community decontamination. Within the epidemic-related work, firefighters have become an indispensable part of the city's epidemic resistance.

Together with the entire city, they now look forward to the end of the epidemic.

Pre-planned inspections to make Vulcan Mountain no fire

Vulcan Mountain Hospital, located in Caidian, Wuhan, was the first infectious disease hospital built during the epidemic with reference to Beijing's "Xiaotangshan" model. It has a building area of 33,900 square meters and provides 1,000 beds.

Li Changchun recalled to the Beijing News reporter that on January 31, two days before the delivery of Vulcan Mountain Hospital, he and seven other firefighters received the task of setting up a fire station and rushed to Vulcan Mountain.

Everything started from scratch. The subsequent fire station was only a disused supermarket at that time, without any fire extinguishing equipment including fire extinguishers. Li Changchun led the team to transform the supermarket into a fire station. At the same time, he installed 1,000 fire extinguishers and more than 1,100 smoke detectors in the courtyard. He did not close his eyes for almost two days and two nights.

Li Changchun told the Beijing News reporter that as an infectious disease hospital specializing in the treatment of patients with new coronary pneumonia, once the Vulcan Mountain Hospital catches fire, the situation is far more complicated than that of ordinary hospitals.

Hospitalized critically ill patients often wear oxygen equipment or have other intubation, such as the spread of the fire and the need to transfer patients, you must ensure that these life support systems will not be interrupted. The hospital has strict zoning of contaminated, semi-polluted, and clean areas. If it is not properly dismantled during the rescue process, it may cause contamination in the hospital or even shut down the entire hospital. For firefighters themselves, care must be taken to avoid being infected when evacuating personnel.

To this end, Li Changchun and his team members spent more than two weeks producing 115 emergency plans. Because of the inconvenience of frequently entering the quarantine ward, they used a drone to take off the three-dimensional real-life picture of the hospital at high altitude, and then made an electronic sand table. It was repeatedly deduced on the top. It's so fine. "

Daily inspections are also essential. The members of the Vulcan Mountain Fire Station patrolled the hospital twice a day to ensure that the safety exits and evacuation routes were kept open at all times. Pressure was also measured on the nine fire hydrants distributed in the courtyard to ensure that the water pressure met the safety requirements.

Since the Thunder Mountain Hospital was put into use, Peng Qingsong, the captain of the fire rescue team in Jiangxia District, has also been sitting. He told the Beijing News reporter that on February 16th, members of the Lei Shenshan Fire and Rescue Station inspected and found that a distribution box in the strong electricity room was covered with plastic cloth. "But this 'rain cloth' is flammable. Fires may be caused by electrical faults and other reasons. "This problem was later reflected at the regular meeting of the Operation and Support Headquarters of Raytheon Hospital. The plastic sheet was quickly removed, and ultra-fine dry powder was added to each distribution room. A fire extinguishing bomb was added with a roll of fire-resistant flame-retardant cloth as a spare.

With careful planning and daily inspections, no fire has occurred in the Vulcan Mountain and Thunder Mountain Hospital so far.

These two hospitals are just a microcosm. On March 17, the relevant person in charge of the Wuhan Fire Rescue Detachment told the Beijing News reporter that since the outbreak, in addition to firefighters stationed in the Vulcan Hill and Thunder God Mountain Hospitals, Wuhan Fire Fighting has established a total of 980 “five categories of places”. , Stationed in 9 designated hospitals, 7 rehabilitation stations, 7 centralized isolation points, rectified 15138 risk points, donated 12,000 fire extinguishers, 2171 fire alarms, and realized designated hospitals (fever diagnosis), square cabin hospitals, and centralized isolation. Point and other places "zero fire".

Running dozens of buildings carrying dozens of pounds of killing pots

In Wuhan in the epidemic, firefighters did not only have to deal with fire.

The epidemic struck and everything was mixed, and the scope of work of firefighters was further expanded. The above-mentioned person in charge of Wuhan Fire Rescue Detachment said that since the outbreak, the 119 alarm service desk has been receiving alarms for help related to the epidemic 24 hours a day, and has deployed its backbone to form 20 650 "119 party member commandos" to take the initiative to undertake patient transfer and medical care. Pick-up, decontamination, anti-virus, and material transfer services.

The 119 party commando of Jiangxia District of Wuhan City has 32 people, of which 12 are special personnel transfer. Jiang Heng is the captain of this team.

Jiang Heng told the Beijing News reporter that they were mainly transported by close contacts and those who were discharged from the hospital but must continue to be quarantined. Before these people get on the train, the team members need to kill them whole body. The firefighters themselves cannot be taken lightly. Before leaving the station every day, Jiang Heng and the team members will follow the advice of the medical staff, wear protective clothing, goggles, two layers of masks, two layers of protective gloves, and put two layers on their feet. Shoe cover to ensure that no skin is exposed throughout the body. Every time a batch of personnel is transferred, firefighters and vehicles must also be killed.

In Qingshan District, firefighters are the backbone of the old community's anti-virus program. Zhai Shuai, deputy captain of the 119-party commando in Qingshan District, told the Beijing News reporter that due to the large number of old districts in Qingshan District and poor property management, the district government designated them to kill 73 old communities.

Zhai Shuai introduced that killing is totally manpower-powered, carrying dozens of pounds of killing pots. Sometimes a team member has to go to a dozen buildings in the morning and use five or six pots of disinfection water.

Sometimes, firefighters also have to bear the pressure and emotional transfer of citizens. Wuchang District Fire Rescue Team instructor Zhang Tuo recalled to the Beijing News reporter that in early March, the 119 party commando of Wuchang District took over a rehabilitation station in a hotel near Wuchang Railway Station, but "the first night fry." Some rehabilitation patients think that they have been cured and do not need to be isolated. Others suspect that the hotel is in poor condition, and some elderly people suffer from basic diseases. However, at that time, the station did not have medical staff, and they were worried that they would not get care. Everyone, you say a word to me and make a variety of requests.

Later that night, an old man had a heart attack, and the firefighters quickly contacted a hospital, examined the old man, and prescribed medicine. In the following days, according to the needs of the rehabilitation patients, they supplemented medical supplies and medicines, and various living materials. One patient reported that they were unable to breathe in the room. The firemen also coordinated to get an oxygen generator. In this way, the emotions of the rehabilitation patients gradually stabilized.

Data provided by the Wuhan Fire Rescue Detachment shows that as of March 13, the detachment had dispatched 13,182 commanders, 2749 duty vehicles, 8154 transfers to patients, 1975 transfers to medical staff, 7.646,000 square meters of anti-virus, and transfers. Materials were 7224.5 tons.

"May the mountains and rivers be boundless, and the world is safe."

In the face of the epidemic, firefighters will also be frightened when performing their missions.

On February 10, a fire broke out in a residential building in Qingshan District, Wuhan, and Wufeng Fire Station in Qingshan District dispatched firefighters. There were multiple confirmed and suspected patients in the fired building. Zhai Shuai recalled that the team members, as usual, rushed into the building with confirmed and suspected patients to fight the fire and evacuated according to the predetermined battle programming. They also rescued a baby. The rescue process took more than an hour.

Although this process did not directly contact the confirmed and suspected patients, after the rescue was completed, Zhai Shuai was still a little scared. After all, the team members who rushed into the building did not wear protective clothing. In the days when the team members were monitoring their temperature, Zhai Shuai was nervous every day, "Will anyone be infected because of this situation, I have been worrying about this."

But these fears can sometimes be dispelled by more powerful forces. Zhai Shuai recalled that once he and his team members completed the task and went to the gas station to refuel the car. Suddenly a "Wuhan refueling" came from not far away, and he looked up and found an old woman holding a cell phone to pat them.

Sometimes this power comes from the medical staff they are guarding.

One day during an inspection at Vulcan Mountain Hospital, Li Changchun saw that a female medic was unwell in the isolation ward and was urgently replaced. The exhausted female medic took off her protective clothing, her face filled with guilt, and her mouth continued to say, "I'm sorry, I'm ashamed." Li Changchun was sorrowful. "She's (tired) like that, and she still feels embarrassed. "

In the past two days, as the pressure on patient treatment eased, many aid medical teams evacuated one after another, and another item was added to the taskbar of the firefighters in Wuchang District-escorting medical personnel to return. Firefighters Zengming remembered that in the morning of March 17, the fire brigade of the Wuchang District fire brigade headed for the airport. The medical staff in Qinghai welcomed them to eat lamb in Qinghai and watched Qinghai Lake. The team members invited each other to come back after the epidemic Wuhan, eat hot dry noodles, watch cherry blossoms.

Not long ago, graffiti on the corridor of the Raytheon Mountain Hospital A area was on the Internet for a while. From all over the country to aid the medical staff of Raytheon Mountain Hospital, in addition to the heavy work, on the original empty white wall, draw cartoon versions of doctors and nurses, the beauty of their hometowns and the food they want ... On the "battlefield" fighting day and night, they made a simple wish-"May the mountains and rivers be boundless, and the world be safe."

In one corner, a young member of the Thunder God Mountain Fire and Rescue Station also drew a graffiti. It is the back of a pair of firefighters and nurses. Two hands extending left and right, together make a heart. shape. Peng Qingsong said that there is something in this "painting": "They (medical staff) are guarding and treating patients, and we are both guarding patients and protecting their safety."
