  • Despite the confinement currently in force in France to combat the spread of the coronavirus, truck drivers are among the professions forced to continue their activity.
  • One of them was offended, in a Facebook post deleted since, to see access to a corporate coffee machine "strictly prohibited" to his profession.
  • The photo is authentic and was taken at the PSA center in Vesoul, as confirmed by a union representative, while deploring the “reductive” aspect of the photo.

In the midst of confinement to combat the spread of the coronavirus, while most professions telework or find themselves on short-term unemployment, truck drivers continue their delivery activities. But the containment measures of the Covid-19 taken by certain companies sometimes give rise to surprising prohibitions against them, according to a viral photo shared on Facebook.

This one shows a coffee dispenser all that is most commonplace, with the exception of the message pinned on it, on which one can read: "Strictly prohibited for truck drivers". A repeated ban, below, in several languages, including English.

"Wouldn't we be taken for shit?" Ensure the deliveries so that nobody misses anything, on the other hand die in silence please !! Access to the restaurant prohibited, I can understand it, but from there to prohibit us the toilets and the coffee machines anyway ... It's shameful! “, Was indignant, in legend, the truck driver at the origin of this publication - suppressed since.

FAKE OFF

If the author of this publication had not responded to our requests before the publication of our article, Patrice Clos, Secretary General of FO Transports tells us more about the origin of the photo: "I received it in direct, it was in the center [of the car manufacturer] PSA of Vesoul, in a place of the depot open to employees as well as truck drivers. "

“We did not have any explanation for this decision, nor for its origin, but we find this type of measure against truck drivers everywhere in France. Some are forbidden to leave their cabins or have to wait outside for deliveries to be received, others cannot go to the toilet or shower, rest areas are closed… It's a bit of a panic right now, ”continues Patrice Clos.

Contacted by 20 Minutes , neither PSA nor the center of Vesoul (Haute-Saône) had responded to our requests. Jean-Paul Guy, CFTC union delegate on the site, however, confirms the authenticity of the photo, while deploring its “reductive aspect”: “We are a global logistics center for spare parts, 700 road trucks from all over 'Europe parade there every day. We therefore asked that the truck drivers have specific toilets to prevent them from mixing with the employees, we provided them with special premises. "

“We would have liked them to also have access to the cafeteria part, but it's too complicated logistically. Normally, if the truck drivers follow the procedure in force, they drop off their load and are not allowed to enter the room [of the coffee machine] ", adds Jean-Paul Guy, adding that the poster has been hooked several days ago.

For his part, Patrice Clos announces a potential stop on the side of the truck drivers soon: “We agree to ensure the continuity of transport but the working conditions must go with it. We plan to call the truckers to exercise the right of withdrawal next week. "
