The purpose of the fund is to raise money from anyone who wants to make contributions to musicians who are affected by cancellations due to the spread of the new corona virus.

"It came as an initiative from a private person and we thought we were driving," says Karin Inde.

Has received tremendous response

Now Swedish Jazz hopes that everyone wants to join and support the needy jazz musicians - individuals, institutions, organizations, clubs and companies. And the response so far has been huge, especially from jazz clubs around the country, but also from private individuals who want to join and donate a slant to the crisis fund.

- Only in a day we are up to 80,000 SEK, says a happy Inde.

The money is not far enough

But of course, 80,000 is not enough. Instead, it is about a much needed symbolic support for those who have been in an acute economic crisis.

- It's about personal finances, it's about paying the rent and buying food, says Karin Inde.

Ten applications were received already during the first day. The money is to be distributed by a committee of 4 people. They have their first meeting on Thursday, then they will decide on the first beneficiaries.

- You have to show that you have received set gigs. The support level will be regulated by how much money we manage to collect and what financial situation you are in, says Karin Inde.
