• Live: last minute of the coronavirus

Ophthalmologists, orthopedists, psychologists, midwives ... health professionals of various specialties are offering consultation services through social networks these days due to the spread of the coronavirus.

However, it is not a matter of attending to the symptoms related to Covid-19, but other types of daily consultations that are largely neglected at the moment. The health authorities request that they do not go to hospitals or health centers except in cases of extreme gravity to avoid the health system colliding.

"I have been answering messages for hours, and in some cases I have had to provide a phone number to chat," says Óscar, a clinical psychologist contacted through a direct message on Twitter.

"Many patients have been unable to attend their weekly therapies, with which they are abandoned, with nothing to do, and closed spaces. So here we go, trying to give guidelines and reduce anxiety," he explains. He estimates that about 100 people have already contacted him, "although I have more than 70 on the tray to read," he adds.

The confinement forced by the current state of alarm and the overinformation about the coronavirus can affect emotional health. Psychologists recommend avoiding overexposure and looking for reliable data to be able to mentally face this crisis. In addition, some like Óscar have joined the initiative to make inquiries through social networks.

Also to resolve doubts of women, pregnant or not, that these days, following the recommendations, do not go to their usual consultation, several midwives are also contributing their experience to reach as many patients as possible.

More and more specialists and from different areas are joining this initiative while social networks have also been filled with messages inviting Spaniards to go out this Saturday at 10:00 pm to windows and balconies to applaud the toilets , as a spontaneous "tribute" with white fabrics to those who are attending the coronavirus pandemic in hospitals and homes.

"At ten o'clock at night we will all go out to our windows, terraces and balconies and applaud," says one of the messages that have not stopped circulating since early this Saturday.
