The first photo taken from Earth in December 1968 - Screenshot / Gross

In this gloomy period with the false airs of the end of the world, it is good to be able to iron the best souvenir photos from a time not so far from ours. When the conquest of space was a source of hope and wonder.

Take the very first photo of our planet, Earth, taken from space by the Appolo 8 mission, on December 24, 1968.

We then spoke of an “earthrise”, like a sunrise, except that it was a revelation. The three American astronauts who photographed our planet proclaimed their surprise to see "that there could be colors in space". And that it was to our precious planet that the universe owed it.

This photo, "considered as a key moment in global ecological awareness", according to Brut, our partner, is also capable, we hope, of restoring colors to our current gloom.
